Inside Word with Freak – 08/27/2010

OBITUARY brothers John & Donald Tardy are working on more material for a new TARDY BROTHERS disc.  Their debut “Bloodline” came out in April 2009.

Looks like Gibson will be reissuing the white 1974 Les Paul Custom that the late Randy Rhoads played on OZZY’s “Blizzard of Ozz” & “Diary of A Madman” albums.  This comes after Jackson guitars released a limited number of Randy’s “Tribute Guitar”, actually called the Concorde earlier this year and his family unloaded so wine on us last month.  In related news, the first glimpse of what will happen with HEAVEN & HELL after the death of vocalist RONNIE JAMES DIO has surfaced with bassist Geezer Butler telling a Canadian magazine that he would like to continue working with Tony Iommi and Vinny Appice in some sort of a capacity.  Stay tuned for details. . . .

A BLACK SABBATH fun fact . . . the original lineup of Ozzy, Geezer, Tony, & Bill never played in Japan.  Ever.

Checking the “That Never Happens Around Here” files we find guitar god SLASH joining another guitar god Uli Jon Roth on stage in New Zealand for a rousing rendition of JIMI HENDRIX’s classic “Little Wing”.  Former FIRM, WHITESNAKE, BLUE MURDER bassist Tony Franklin was also in on the jam.

DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy says he (Quote) “Feels the ghosts of Keith Moon & John Bonham in everything he does”.  which makes me want a shot of whatever the hell it is that he’s drinking.

and finally . . .  while we weren’t paying attention, KISS were inducted into the Mohegan Sun’s “Walk of Fame” last week (8/19) there in Uncasville Connecticut so I guess that means that they’re pretty damn famous now doesn’t it . . . . .
