Inside Word with Freak – 06/30/2010

Word out of the SLIPKNOT camp says that due to the death of bassist Paul Gray, nothing new will happen with the band for at least two years . . . if at all.

MOTLEY CRUE screamer Vince Neil was asked by an A.P. reporter if he was clean on August 22nd and he replied (Quote) “There’s just a point in your life where you kind of stop, that’s what happened with me, that was like three years ago. There’s other things in life than just drugs and alcohol. I haven’t touched drugs in 20 years. You grow out of that.” 5 days later he was popped for a D.U.I. in Vegas. . .

Chicago rockers DISTURBED will release their new disc called “Asylum” on August 31st. The first single “Another Way to Die” is at iTunes now.

A Polish court has dismissed charges filed against BEHEMOTH front growler Nergal in connection with a 2007 incident in which he ripped a bible in half on stage in Gdynia. He was looking at two years if convicted. Speaking of Poland, VADER have announced the title of their upcoming release . . .  Look for “Return to the Morbid Reich” to hit stores late August.

Rocker/activist Zach De la Rocha says his band RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE may do some shows protesting Arizona’s immigration laws . . .  so be on the lookout for those.

Swedish Viking death metallers KING OF ASGARD have released their debut disc called “Fi’mbulvintr” . . .  no, I can’t pronounce that either.

Checking the “Bullshit Lawsuit” files we find a folk singer by the name of Jake Holmes who just filed a suit against LED ZEPPELIN saying they copied the guitar riff from their 1969 classic “Dazed & Confused”. While the song is very similar to Holmes’ 1967 recording shouldn’t he have noticed sometime before now ? ? ? Even if he wins, he’s only entitled to royalties from the past three years… not the 41 it’s been around.

California progressive death metallers ARSONISTS GET ALL THE GIRLS have started writing new material. Look for them to hit the studio after wrapping their stint on the “Over the Limit” tour of North America this summer

ROB ZOMBIE hosted WWE’s Raw on Monday June 28th and was arguably the scariest person there. He rolls into the studio next week to start work on some new material with a September release slated.

And finally . . . Look for the #73 HELL YEAH! car to run at Daytona Independence Day weekend as Vinnie Paul & the boys have themselves a little NASCAR fun.
